Kalia and Antonis Eliopoulos engaged Athens-based Interior Design Laboratorium to create Parilio, their fourth property (they have another two on their home of Santorini), with a brief to capture the serenity of the island as well as its dreamlike scenery of whitewashed villages and cobalt-domed churches against a background of granite cliffs and the sparkling beaches of the Aegean. The owners of Santorini's cool 12-suite Istoria hotel have created another gem of design and understated glamour, this time on Paros, not far away in the Greek Cyclades. Parilio's glorious pool and sun deck invite long languid afternoons and sundowners. On checking us out, the manager did not ask how are stay was or whether we had any feedback so hence this review. The manager showed little interest and he did not follow up with us after speaking with the couple in question to assure us that our concerns had been adequately addressed. A poolside bar, a fitness center, and a seasonal outdoor pool are other highlights at this luxurious hotel. Guests can be pampered with massages at the spa and grab a bite to eat at the restaurant. At a 5* hotel, you shouldn’t need to go searching for pool towels every morning or spend 10 minutes trying to get someone’s attention to order poolside drinks! On one occasion we brought it to the manager’s attention that there was a couple coughing persistently around the pool area (this went on for two days) - this should be of concern to any prudent manager given the prevalence of covid-19 in Paros at present.
